Charci |
Charci still recalls the first time she ever drove anything, an antique car at an amusement park at the age of 10. After this point, her license could not come soon enough. Growing up in an Indianapolis suburb allowed her to spend quality time at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, attending many races throughout the years. “In my early twenties I was driving in my free time constantly with no destination, just hours out and hours back,” Charci remembers. This is when it was suggested to her that she should be a truck driver. After an initial laugh, Charci considered, and 1 ½ years later it became a reality. “I have been trucking more than 8 years now, with over 1 million miles, accident free,” says Charci. She now owns her own company and equipment. Currently she drives a 2007 Peterbuilt 387 and pulls a 1996 Utility refrigerated trailer. She states that she has driven many different trucks and trailers, including a dump truck, "dry van,” flat bed, and now exclusively a “reefer.” Her love for the road has taken her down every major interstate and through every one of the 48 contiguous states. Charci also has endorsements to haul hazmat, doubles and triples, and tankers. Although she is on the road for more than 300 days a year, Charci enjoys occasional breaks to enjoy time at home with her family and friends. “Trucking is a constant learning process, no matter how long one has been on the road” Charci notes. “There is a saying out there that goes, ‘If you think you know everything there is to know about trucking, you shouldn’t even be driving,”’ Charci explains. This career has only furthered her love, passion, and respect for the road. The road has been her home, and it has been very good to her. |

For Charci Causey, driving started out as a hobby, and is now enjoyed as her job. Her love for driving came at a young age on her tricycle, which she didn’t ride, she DROVE. Her grandpa fueled this desire for the wheel by allowing her to shift for him at the young age of 8 years old. This shifting probably is the reason why she has never owned an automatic in her life!
