The Drivers Talk Team

Jay DaltonJay Dalton began following racing while still a teenager during the mid-to-late 1960s,contributing to both a Can Am and Trans Am racing team. Along with his father, a racing fan who took the family on vacations around the world, Dalton attended many Formula One Grand Prix and the famed LeMans 24-Hour events in ’66 and ’67, where he witnessed both American victories in Ford GTs.

After attending the University of Southern California with dual majors in marketing and international trade, Dalton spent 30 years as an exporter of American vehicles, race cars, and parts around the world. He also owned an auto parts company for 18 years in England, specializing in American vehicles.

While building his business, Dalton continued to pursue his passion for motorsports as a key member of the Saleen Mustang Racing team from 1985 to 1988. Dalton helped the team win the 1987 National Endurance Racing Championship, with Driver’s Talk Radio host Rick Titus behind the wheel.

“Drivers Talk is an intimate, first-person journey into the living history of the motor vehicle. “Performance takes on a whole new meaning when you’ve won 24-hour road races and national endurance racing championships with the likes of Parnelli Jones, George Follmer, Scott Pruett, and Pete Halsmer on your team,” Dalton notes. He also produced the America Jet Challenge, a jet dragster series in Johannesburg, South Africa, which required special approval from the Pentagon.

An accomplished mechanic, Dalton has built or rebuilt 29 vehicles (427 Cobras and GT40s) now registered and on the road in Japan. His personal collection presently includes a 1986 Corvette and as-yet unrestored 1964 Ferrari Lusso.

“I know of no other mix of true automotive industry experts like the Drivers Talk team,” says Dalton. “We bring our listeners up-to-the-minute knowledge of the auto industry, balanced by our decades of experience in the business. Our work takes us deep inside the car companies, visiting test tracks, making training films, conducting product testing and evaluations, reviewing FTC-certified product claims. and more. We observe the industry from ‘behind the curtain’ and, each week, we simply share with our listeners what we’ve learned.”
